Thomas Stearns Eliot (TS Eliot: 26 September 1888 – 4 January 1965) was a poet, essayist, publisher, playwright, and literary and social critic. Born in St. Louis, Missouri to a prominent Boston Brahmin family(অভিজাত পরিবার), in America. he moved to England in 1914 at the age of 25 and would settle, work and marry there. He became a British subject in 1927 at the age of 39, subsequently renouncing(পরিত্যাগ করে) his American passport.
টি এস এলিয়ট The Georgian Period(1910-1936) এর একজন কবি, নাট্যকার ও সমালোচক। তিনি আমেরিকায় জন্মগ্রহণ করলেও পরে ইংল্যান্ডের নাগরিকত্ব গ্রহণ করেন।
Nobel Prize
He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1948, “for his outstanding, pioneer contribution to present-day poetry”(আধুনিক কবিতার জন্য). In the same year he also awarded the “Order of Merit” ( সাহিত্য, বিজ্ঞান ও সামরিক ক্ষেত্রে কমনওয়েলথভুক্ত দেশগুলোতে প্রদত্ত উপাধি). He got these award for his “The waste land” poem.
