Phrasal Verb	Meaning	Example
Lay aside	to put something on one side and not use it or think about it-সরিয়ে রাখা	He laid aside his book and stood up.
Lay before	to present something to someone.-কাউকে কিছু দেখানো	The cat laid the mouse before her mistress.
Lay by	an area at the side of a road where vehicles may pull off the road and stop.রাস্তার পাশের অল্প জায়গা যেখানে গাড়ী থামে	a mooring area along a canal, river, or harbor.
Lay down	to put something down or stop using it, to stop doing a job, etc.স্থির করা বা থামানো	Both sides were urged to lay down their arms (= stop fighting).
Lay in	to collect and store something to use in the future-ভবিষ্যতের ব্যবহারের জন্য সংগ্রহ ও সঞ্চয় করা	They laid a lot of food in for the holidays.
Lay into	Criticize angrily-রাগতভাবে তিরস্কার করা	His partner LAID INTO him when he arrived two hours late
Lay off	Make an employee redundant-কর্মী ছাঁটাই করা	The hotel LAID OFF twenty staff because tourist numbers were down.
Lay on	cover with-ঢাকা বা ঢেকে দেওয়া	He decided to lay on a second coat of primer
Lay on	to provide something for somebody, especially food or entertainment-কাউকে কিছু দেওয়া বিশেষ করে খাদ্য বা বিনোদন	A bus has been laid on to take guests to the airport.
Lay out	Spend money-টাকা ব্যয় করা	They LAID OUT thousands of pounds on their wedding reception.
Lie down	to be or get into a flat position, especially in bed, in order to sleep or rest-আরাম করে শুয়ে পরা	He lay down on the sofa and soon fell asleep.
Leave on	Not turn off-চালু রাখা	LEAVE the TV ON; I want to hear the football results.
Leave out	to not include or mention somebody/something in something-কাউকে কোন কিছুর মাঝে না রাখা	Leave me out of this quarrel, please.
Lock Up	to make a building safe by locking the doors and windows-তালা দেওয়া	He locked up the shop and went home.
lock up somebody	to put somebody in prison-কয়েদ বা বন্দী করা	The inspector locked the robber up.
Look after	Take care-দেখা শোনা করা	Their auntie LOOKED AFTER them while their mother was in hospital.
Look at	to examine something closely-নিবিড় ভাবে দেখা	I haven’t had time to look at (= read) the papers yet.
Look down on/upon	to think that you are better than somebody/something-ছোট করে দেখা	She looks down on people who haven’t been to college.
Look for	Try to find-খোঁজা	I’ve been LOOKING FOR all their hidden files, but I can’t find them anywhere.
Look forward to	to be thinking with pleasure about something that is going to happen (because you expect to enjoy it)-অধীর আগ্রহে	I’m LOOKING FORWARD TO meeting you.
Look into	Research, investigate-তদন্ত করা	We’ll LOOK INTO the problem and come back to you when we have the information.
Look on/upon	to watch something without becoming involved in it yourself-চেয়ে দেখা	The crowd just LOOKED ON as the old lady was mugged.
Look out	used to warn somebody to be careful, especially when there is danger-দেখ!(সতর্ক করে দিতে)	Look out! There’s a car coming.
Look over	to examine something to see how good, big, etc. it is-পরখ করে দেখা	We looked over the house again before we decided we would rent it.
Look through	to ignore somebody by pretending not to see them-না দেখার ভান করা	She just looked straight through me.
Look through	to examine or read something quickly-চোখ বুলিয়ে নেওয়া	She looked through her notes before the exam.
Look to	to consider something and think about how to make it better-ভালভাবে দেখা ও বিবেচনা করা	We need to look to ways of improving our marketing.
Look up	(of business, somebody’s situation, etc.) to become better-উন্নতি করা	The economy is LOOKING UP.
Look up	to look for information in a dictionary or reference book, or by using a computer-খোঁজা	I looked it up in the dictionary.
Make after	Chase-ধাওয়া করা	The police MADE AFTER the stolen car.
Make away with	to kill, destroy, or get rid of, steal-হত্যা, ধ্বংশ, মুক্তি, চুরি করা	The thieves MADE AWAY WITH the painting.
Make for	to move towards something-কোন কিছুর দিকে যাওয়া	We MADE FOR home when it started raining.
Make for	to help to make something possible-কোন কিছু সম্ভব করা	Constant arguing doesn’t make for a happy marriage.
Make into	Change something into something else-রূপান্তর করা	Many churches have been MADE INTO flats in recent years.
Make of	to understand the meaning or character of somebody/something-কোন কিছুর ধরণ বা বৈশিষ্ট বুঝতে পারা	I can’t make anything of this note.
Make off	to hurry away, especially in order to escape-তাড়াতাড়ি করা(পালিয়ে যাবার জন্য )	They MADE OFF when they heard the police siren.
Make off with	to steal something and hurry away with it-চুরি করে ভেগে যাওয়া	Thieves MADE OFF WITH over a million dollars in the robbery.
Make out	used to ask if somebody managed well or was successful in a particular situation-কিভাবে করল?	How did he make out while his wife was away?
Make out	Understand someone’s nature or personality-কারও প্রকৃতি ও ব্যক্তিত্ব বুঝতে পারা	He’s strange; I can’t MAKE him OUT.
Make over	Give money or possessions to someone in a legal way-বৈধ উপায়ে কাউকে কিছু দেওয়া	She MADE OVER her property to her children.
Make over	Change appearance-অবয়বের পরিবর্তন করা	The beauty salon gave her a MAKEOVER before the party.
Make up	Put on cosmetics-প্রসাধন সামগ্রী ব্যবহার করা	She went to the bathroom to MAKE her face UP.
Make up	to form something-অংশ হওয়া, গঠন করা	Women make up 56% of the student numbers.
Make up of	to form something-কোন কিছু গঠন করতে	The team is made up of 11 players.
